About Us

Rudy Lopez** is the Owner and Operator of 1626 Construction LLC. He began his career in the building trades as a laborer and apprentice with a well-known company in Las Vegas, NV, at the start of 2000.

After five years of gaining experience in various aspects of residential construction, Rudy moved to Austin, where he worked for a masonry company in West Austin. His growing expertise and skills led him to become an independent contractor, specializing in both commercial and residential projects.

The 2008 recession hit the construction industry hard, especially for small businesses. After a few years staying afloat, Rudy took on the role of Senior Estimator for a commercial and residential construction company based in Austin.

During this time, Rudy collaborated with a talented team of architects, designers, and tradespeople, working on high-quality renovations, commercial construction, and custom homes. Many of these projects received awards and industry recognition in Central Texas. He also became well-versed in the building permits and processes, adapting to the evolving regulations in Austin.

With over 20 years of experience, Rudy took a leap of faith and established himself as a general contractor in 2021. His goal is to deliver top-quality renovations and construction through a personalized and transparent process.

**Linda Baier**, Rudy’s wife and business partner, is the Office Manager for 1626 Construction LLC. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from a Jesuit University and brings valuable experience in financial analysis to the company. Linda joined 1626 Construction full-time in 2022 and has been essential in managing the company’s finances.

Together with their children, Linda and Rudy are active members of Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Buda, TX, and they also volunteer with organizations like The Salvation Army and El Buen Samaritano.

He established realistic expectations for the project timeline and scope of work and was receptive to our feedback. One specific item I appreciated from them was how they handled their site preparation and cleaning. To start the project, they set up professional containment to handle dust and debris control in the space. That is not always front of mind with a contractor, and going that extra step was greatly appreciated. When it came to fixing or touching up items in the kitchen, he and his crew handled them efficiently and with an attitude of wanting to deliver their best work product. We are so pleased with the final product and love our new space, and 1626 Construction was a huge part of that.
